Got a letter today via Canada Post from ballistic products.
Said they had a data breach 18 Sept 2020 to 3 Feb 2022.
They said it was it was a malware breach from the 3rd party they use to process CC payments. I did have attempted fraudulent purchases made on my card. I thought it was x reload cause I had shopped there as well. But for all I know could of been there as well. The fraudulent purchases were mainly to Walmart whose system flagged them as fraud and kept refunding the money. They are also offering Id theft insurance.

Just a heads up if you shopped there.

Got my letter as well yesterday. Looks like they got all the personal info according to the letter...address..both names..cc#..3 digit security #..order contents..haven't seen any bogus charges YET anyways.

Get new cc number - is PITA, but is correct suggestion - the card number that I used to buy reloading manuals from BP - was also other on-line vendors that was used on - was later "hacked" - fraudulent purchases to Uber Eats, etc. in Toronto - bank cancelled that card and issued a new one - required me to remember and to reset all the previously set up "annual" and "quarterly" pre-approved things. I now "lock" my cards on Internet banking, but equalling PITA, because I have to "unlock" if I want to use my own card!!!

"CVE number" - I did not know that you could request a different one. In my case (twice, actually), my bank cancelled the existing card number (after fraudulent charges were made) and mailed new cards to me.

My stepson, who has a couple of credit cards for his business as well as a personal card, has gone through this a couple of times over the past decade.

Because of the large amount of different individual suppliers, etc, he uses his CC with, changing the number takes a colassal effort and it's easily possible to miss a few.

The bank informed him they could just change the CVE number to make things easier.

I had to do that myself two years ago and it makes the whole process much less tedious
