I usually load 55 gr Nosler BT in my 223, but will try a box of the CT Ballistic Silvertip 55 gr., mainly because I think they will look cooler, which in turn will make me kill alot more animals. ;)

Has anyone tested the Nosler BT vs the CT BST with the same loads, and found a big accuracy difference, either way?

thanks in advance

I found them to be roughly equal in accuracy with a given load, at least out of my old browning A-bolt anyways. One thing I did notice, the black coating on the CT's (lubalox?) seemed to take more effort to clean out of the barrel. At least, I'm pretty sure that's what it was.

yeah I think they're the same, I was just wondering what differences you guys have noticed shooting them, regular vs the lubalox coated ones

well I got my Ballistic Silvertips today (22 cal 55 gr), and loaded a few up with some equally new Nosler brass (223 rem). Sure looks sharp, I'll see how they do on paper/chrony against a proven load (reg 55 gr Nosler BT and Winchester brass).

well I tried a load of the BST this moring out of my 223, and they shot about 25 fps slower than the non coated ballistic tip. I was expecting more of a drop  :)

accuracy was about the same, .94" 5 shot. Im sure I can squeeze it down to .75" or less with soem tweaking :)

Silver tip is better, hitas harder at longer range on varmit, cool is ok but knock down power and accuracy is what counts!

I have done a lot of testing woith a Rem 700 XCr 26" barrel.
Fired some hot loaded 55gr BT Noslers at 3290 .5" and under max I went to was 3400fps 5/8" but the 69 gr Sierras shoot .250" around the 3000fps +
best Powders I have found Varget,Rl15, Vt 540 and will try some VT 140.
But the smallest group was shot with 75gr Bergers VLD
