Any chance of better pics? What is that on the scope body? It looks like masking tape! Also, the bolt handle looks to be straight - this would not be correct. More details and pics would be needed.
Hi, it's not masking tape, or a straight bolt! It is generally great and matching condition, except for the stock repair you can see. The metal on the scope mount has worn and a patina is starting to form. The glass has a chip in it which is probably its greatest flaw. It doesn't interfere with the sight picture, however.
Mainly I am just looking for a ballpark to start negotiations on. I recognise that the chip is going to decrease its value but I am not sure how much. The stock repair is definitely Swedish.
I've seen a lot worse go for $1200 to $1500. If the numbers match and the bore is excellent, more.
It's not at all unusual to find these rifles mixed and matched as far as scopes/mounts/bases go.
On the rifle itself, all numbers match. The bore as is excellent. The only wear on the metal is on the scope mount. I don't see a serial number on the scope.
Ah ha! My eyes were playing tricks on me! What kind of scope is that? All the pics I've seen of these rifles (and the two or three I've seen in person) have AJACK scopes on them (as seen here: http://philipbeekley.com/1900swede-mauser_m96-m41b_sniper.htm). Does the one you have on the rifle have any manufacturers marking or name on it?
Edit: Never mind! I think I found the model of scope. AGA 3x65 m/42 - does that sound right?
