Ok, trying to help a fellow out with his next purchase of optics and wanted some opinions on what some are using since we can't have ALL the products out there at out disposal.

I can speak on Conquest, Sightron, Bushnell, Simmons,Leupold and I am sure others I don't remember,as to what I have either owned or tried at one point.

The specs are pretty much decided on being a 3-9 or 3-12 area, in 40 or 50mm objectives.

What have others been experiencing with these brands in bang for buck value.

My personal favorite is a Conquest 3-9x40 in bang for buck value, however I think the Redfields, Bushnells and Sightrons are also top contenders.

Opinions????

I help out sometimes with the sighting in of hunting rifles at the club where I shoot. There is a fellow there who does the sight - ins who knows more about firearms than most people ever will. What we have found routinely is that 4 out of every 5 Bushnells that come through the door - including brand new ones - are no good.

Based on my experiences and observations I recommend Leupold and Redfield scopes due to their quality and excellent warranty. Redfields are also a Leupold brand.

My 2 cents.

I use to put bushnell elite scopes on everything as a great bang for the buck scope. After my first one in 6 failed me and they sent it back saying my fault after they had it for 8 months (crosshairs fell not sure how I did that) I have moved on. I tried Vortex and I like it in little ways more than I liked the bushnell and a big way in the warrantee.

Everyone's eyes are different when it comes to optics. I proved this to myself after trying many expensive high end names in bino's and they just didn't work aswell as the less expensive pair (still not cheap) I have looked through three conquest scopes on three different occasions and Not once did they impress my eyes. Not saying they were a poor scope just didn't wow me.

Another vote for Vortex. Great value and amazing warranty service. I bought one second hand that turns out had issues. I sent it in to them and in under 7 days I had a brand new scope at my door, no questions asked.

In terms of "value" scopes, I sell a lot of Conquest and haven't had a single return, issue or complaint.

I also sell a lot of Minox, and price wise they are very hard to beat: they are engineered and designed in Germany, they use German Schott glass, and they are assembled in Japan or the US to keep costs down. Minox scopes come with a life-time, no questions asked warranty to the original owner. I sell a Minox ZA3 3-9x40 with plex for $370, for example.
