Just seeing if any one has tryed a 4x12x40 Banner on there 7MM Mag , Im just seeing how they hold up over time to recoil.

I got a 'Banner' on one of my Ruger 10/22's. Remember, you get what you pay for. I'd step up to at least an Elite 3200 for a 7mm Mag. But then again don't all 'new' Bushnell's come with a 'lifetime guarantee'.... :D

Dayto the least exp. Bushnell you should consider is the Trophy. Anything less and you'll be wondering why animals aren't falling over when you shoot at them.FS

why not save up the extra $120 and buy an Elite 3200

that being said...I had a Bushnell Buckhorn 3-9x40 on a 7mm for years, and it held up well, and I never got scoped...

I'm with bartell on that. I've got 8 elite scopes iirc, and have never had a problem with any of them. On rifles from .218 mashburn bee to a rebarrelled p-14 in 45/70, that gets some seriously hot loads. Keep the Banner for a rimfire.

we have a banner on a ruger ss 338 mag , its been there for about 8 years now, shot 10 moose , half dozen bears and entered in several long range shoots and hasnt failed us yet , sure theres better scopes out there but there is nothing wrong with these either exept the fact that some people think if they have a 800 dollar scope it makes them better than everyone else , if its what catches your eye and you can aford it then go with it

Sure it MIGHT be ok on it, but is it worth taking the risk of it blowing up on you when you need it the most....in the field? Just ask one of the guys who was at Haggisfest how well his brand new low end Bushnell, Banner, or Trophy, I don't remember for sure, how well it worked on his heavy barrelled .308. The Trophy models seems to ring a bell as the one that he had, and it fell apart on a .308 after only a few shots, and the Trophy is supposed to be the better of the two I mentioned.

I have a 4-12 x 40 Banner on a .300 Winchester Magnum, and I generally do not shoot light loads. I put that scope on the rifle in 1999, and after hundreds of rounds, it still works fine.

It's not as bright or clear as the better scopes, but it seems to handle the recoil OK, and it tracks quite accurately, as well.

If I could afford it, I'd prefer a new Leupold or Zeiss Conquest, or even a Bushnell Elite 4200. But for a budget rifle, I don't see anything wrong with the 4-12 Banner.

Banner is about the cheapest scope that could pass for a quality low-end scope. At least they aren't made in China.......:)

And thank God the big brand 'econo' scopes nowadays aren't like the 'econo' scopes of yesteryear... :D

guiding for 12 years I have seen alot of leupolds POP to ;)

9 years I ran a bushnell buckhorn on a 444 marlin and used it as a bear defence firearm while working with search and rescue and it never failed

when 10x more items are sold by 1 company its only numbers that there will be more breakage in the end

fwiw, I never suggested a Leupold, although a great scope, I don't care for thier Rifleman, or VX-I and VX-II models. Taking the initial scope into consideration, a Banner, I assumed the guy was on a budget, and I feel there are better scopes out there for just a few dollars more. My suggestion would be to save the extra $100 needed and buy and Elite 3200. Sure they'll break too, there's nothing on the market that isn't fool proof, but as far as optics, and quality go, imho the 3200 line of scopes are one of the best buys out there. I'd take a 3200 over the lower end Leupold scopes any day, but that's just me.;)

Well I have had lots of experiance with Banner's on mine and my dad's other rifles(.308/6.5X55) we bothe use 3x9 Banners and have put them thru hell for over 8 years now , always brought us home the meat ..

I replaced the Leupy 3x9 that was on 7MM RM with the Banner just for a good cheap 4X12 I was just asking how they hold up to recoil , But the Dawn to Dusk scopes I think our one hell of a scopes I still cant see any difference to my Banner from my 3200 , Rain guard I guess but I will never pay the extra again and get a 3200.

If you can't see the difference then a better quality scope is wasted on you... stick with the banner.

Well said.I have said the same thing to several people that deny that there is a difference between the cheap scopes and high quality scopes.
