Bannerman Castle is in need of repair. Francis Bannerman bought 95% of the Arms from the Spanish/American War and sold it surplus to collectors. The castle was built to store military surplus from all over the world. This was the beginning of military surplus collections. Go to Bannermancastle.org for additional information. it is located in New York State........

very interesting. Couldn't help but chuckle where it says that he personally contributed cannons and uniforms to the us government during ww1.

There is a unusual 1903 Springfield parts rifle in .303 that Bannerman put together for the British as a gift, they were used a drill rifles.

the reason Bannerman castle needs repair was because he bought a confiscated shipment of weapons what were hidden in barrels of cement. He used the cement to build his castle. Now if you were smuggling guns, would you bother to use high quality cement or would you use the CHEAPEST STUFF?

Another story, about the island, During Prohibition, one of the caretakers used to knock the bronze hubs off the gatling gun carriages and sell them to buy booze.

Old Bannerman catalog I once had;
12pd Napoleon, $300
Limber, $250
Of course plus shipping
Trapdoor springfields $1.25
Sportyized, $1.50
