Barnard actions

I've seen and held a number of different actions.
The Barnard is in another league( imo) which is why I already own 3 of them. I could see how some might not like them( especially if they don't sell them).
They are not perfect... but what is?...
They don't feed .223 well, and their primary extraction is weak...possibly a concern for heavily loaded magnums.

I have one in an ultramag( Barnard PT action). I haven't had any problems with it but haven't used it much either. They aren't the prettiest action but they are rugged , lock up tight and they come with a very good trigger. All my builds with these actions have been extremely accurate. What's not to like?

I would have sworn I had seen something in a signature line to that effect sometime last week, but it's not there now. Either way both good people to deal with.

Either way 2 dealers in Canada would be way better then just one, if thats the way this plays out. Barnard has such a small market up here but its nice to have a couple people step up to the plate just to keep the availability of the product in a timely manner.

They might become really popular if Jefferson gets one :D

I don't sell them either. Never have. Had a hand in building 2 22-250AIs both on barnard actions and the fact they don't have a feed ramp because the locking lugs cut through where it should be never made any sense to me. Barnard's official position was, just put a bit of a chamfer on the chamber. Seriously?? You mean where the strength of the casing is the strongest but not by much?? Great idea. REALLY. The raceways are smooth and when you line up a number of competitive actions and just visually look at them, the Barnard looks like the benjo playing cousin with the teeth and the red hair. I also throught the port was too small and could have been larger to extract long seated casings since chances of it being a benchrest gun are pretty good. The bolt handle looked like an after thought also. It might be hidden enough in a tube gun to pass I guess but an action really plays a simple role and after going through the hell I did with another well known custom action who can't be named for legal reasons, I'd be happy with a trued up remington action where the lugs have been lapped for 100% contact and spend the extra money on a upgraded trigger, scope, type S match reloading dies....

I'm really not a big fan of companies trying to reinvent the wheel in other shapes that cause a ton of problems and narrow your choice of stock choices while making bedding an absolute nightmare along with all the rest of the above mentioned complexity JUST to say they're different while all along it's really the quality of the build and tight tolerance chambering that really makes guns shoot. There are so many good barrel makers out there these days that's not really an issue I don't think.
My 2 cents for what it's worth.

I have a a friend who has a NIB Barnard S 223 Bolt face that he would sell PM me and I will pass info along to him.

And by the way there will be no need to get it Trued, lugs lapped etc or get the hole in boltface bushed like 90% of the newer 700s need. Brother & I bought 2 rem 700 police from Epp,s 2 years ago primers where flowing around firing pin with factory ammo, hole to big in bolt face for pin size, took the back to Wess at Epp's he had gunsmith check them out handed me a new gun, one came in mail 2 weeks later. no questions asked Hard to beat service from Epp,s no run around BS. Opened one of new boxes same thing with firing pin closed them up and sold them as NIB on EE boars and took a loss.
Barnard action quality for me is best action made for Target shooting
