Hi All,

I picked up a couple boxes of Barnaul 223 HP cartridges to use in my mini 14. Having looked a little closer afterwards I noticed that the box says for “rifles with a twist rate less than 1 in 9 inches”. My rifle has a 1 in 9” twist rate. Would these cartridges do any harm to the rifling or would they just not perform as well?

Thanks
Alex

What is the bullet weight?

Can't be any less accurate than in other guns :) Was that the only thing the store had? Usually good brass cased ammo like American Eagle is just as cheap these days.

They are 62 grain. Store had lots of selection, just thought I’d give these a try. Just not sure about why they specified which twist rate they were to be used in.

62 grain is right in the sweet spot for a 9 twist. I mainly used the Remington 62 grain hp when I had a mini 14. Found it to be the most accurate.
