Barnaul 7.62x39 FMJ, $174.95 per 500

Is this steel cored and steel jacketed ammo? Looking for alternatives to surplus for my range as they don't allow steel core or jacket.

Thanks!

Most accurate commercial FMJ I have shot from my CZ 527 and SKS's, clean burning and works every time. It's the only non-corrosive FMJ I will consider buying in 7.62x39 right now. Barnaul offerings in 7.62x54R and .223rem are actually pretty good too.

I didn't find anything official but from reading online it looks like it's copper washed steel jacketed, lead core, steel cased. If the bullet sticks to a magnet they basically won't let you shoot it at my range. Too bad, awesome deal!

I've pulled down Barnaul and can confirm the bullets are magnetic i.e. no-go where steel cores/jackets are banned.

That said, it's extremely reliable ammo and a consistent performer. It's my go-to 7.62x39.
