I want to try some out in the spring in a couple of different rifles, where can I get some?

It seems to be sold out everywhere so I assume it would have to be a private face-to-face and local deal, yes? Since business are out of stock and private citizens cannot ship ammo.

its russian made so it isnt imported anymore unfort... youll prob only find in private sales such as EE local FTF. Norinco is the most common 762x39 avail rn i believe

Yes, Tenda had some last Winter, I think I got some of the last of theirs in x39 and 5.56, both SP. And S&B was avail at Tenda back then too. Before that I found that MFS (Hungary) was a good SP also.

Please do consider what you're supporting with your ammo purchases. I really wouldn't wanna be sending any money to the Chinese military industrial complex right now. Try to find some Eastern European (non Russian) surplus. We have plenty of allies there.

Barnaul is/was great ammo but sadly not available since the Russian/Ukraine war
I still see some for sale here and there and yeah it’s a buck plus a round so IMO not worth it. For a bit more you can buy brass cased ammo which you can reload afterwards

Over a buck a shot? Ouch. I guess if you're looking to reload it then its not a bad price but even then, you can buy starline brass for $60/100, and 250 berrys bullets for like $70, which would probably be the cheaper route if reloading is an option.
When I cleared out CT it was 39 thus tax. And yes I was looking to reloading after swaging to 6.5x 39 (AKA) Grendel .

When I bought my Barnaul x39 it was ca $12-15/box, both FMJ & SP. That was 4-5 years ago and I still have a few hundred rounds left, I'm mostly shooting spammo. Even my Ruger Ranch does OK with that - MOA or better out to 175 (all I can shoot to).

I'll keep my eye open for local I guess. I just want to compare some 762x39 in a few different rifles. I have a few several brands and types gathered already and Barnaul being a very common one, still missing from the sample group.

I just checked Tenda and they have Scorpio x39 at $175 for 300 = 0.67 with 15% tax. 2x cans gets free ship or add something else ? Says it's 'Non-corrosive' but I've never seen it so don't know how it shoots.
Spam in 720's is 0.37/round for Corrosive and cleaning Corr only adds a few minutes to the job, just have to do it 'same day'.
PS - Tenda spam was only $210 a few weeks Before 'Black Friday' but now is $230.

I got a bunch of all that stuff but at the older pricing, thankfully. In time as it's still too cold to get out shooting comfortably here right now.
