I have a 700 AAC and while it's obviously not a high end rifle I'd like to keep care of it.

Will putting Russian Barnaul, Hungarian MFS or Hungarian Sellier & Bellot FMJ rounds through my gun damage my barrel? I've never used this stuff before.

Also I picked up 100 or so Sellier & Bellot Match rounds. Is their Match stuff actually match grade ammo?

thanks

I bought some S&B FMJ 30-06 ammo and it broke the firing pin in my garand. But I am pretty sure some other factors were at play. I run most of these brands through my other guns and everything is fine and they shoot better then I do (I am not the best shot)

Shot em through my rem 700 tactical and never had an issue. They are a bit dirtier of a round but shot pretty decent for 400 yard plinking.

You just have to watch the bi-metal jackets cause they will wear down your rifling a lot faster than copper. I am talking multiple thousands of rounds. The bi-metal goes no where near my precision firearms, but my sks, I couldn't care less! A good article http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/brass-vs-steel-cased-ammo/
It comes down to cost savings for the ammo vs the cost of replacing a barrel. Call me ocd but in my eyes if I have a barrel that is a tack driver, why would I risk losing that accuracy sooner with less rounds and have to replace the barrel? Plus roll the dice hoping to get a similar barrel accuracy wise after the switch, all for some cheaper ammo?

Good point on the bi-metal jacket. With price of ammo I don't see me using that much ammo anytime soon and I'm not 100% sold on my 20" barrel and may go up to 22 or 24 but no excuse to willfully damage it I guess. Looks like S&B has been in business since 1825, not too shabby.
