I have been looking at Nathan Foster's bullet evaluation for 6.5x55.
He has some high praise for Barnes 120gr TSX and some not so high
praise for the 6.5x55 its self?
Has anyone had hunting experience with Barnes 120gr TTSX on
white tails?

I've shot two deer with the 6.5 120gr TSX and one with the 120gr TTSX. All three were bang-flops and didn't take a single step. Complete penetration on all three even on the bigger one where the bullet went through both shoulder blades and spine. All three from a .260 Rem, the 6.5x55 ballistic twin.

I just started loading the 120 TTSX this year. The load I have settled on is 48.5gr RE 19, Win brass, CCI200 primers and I think my OAL is 76.5mm/3.01" (I dont have my load book here with me). I have not chronographed this load but judging from lower charges I belive this one is doing about 2800fps MV. 3 shot groups have ranged from about 0.9-1.2 MOA. Its not the most accurate load I have for my Tikka but more than accurate enough for my hutning. It seems to me that these bullets are very sensitive to seating depth.

I was concerned about guaranteed expansion on smaller animals. I shot a small Mule deer doe a week ago. It was quartering towards, the bullet entered just on the inside of the leg and exited at the offside diaphram. The exit hole was probably a little bigger than 0.5", indicating expansion. Rib was the heaviest bone encountered.

bcsteve would you mind sharing your load for the TTSX? Thanks.

the bullet works great. I used a 125 gr partition to dump at least 10 whitetails with 260/6.5 swede over the years. I sold my first 260 to a buddy with shoulder problems and he killed a medium sized bull moose with a 130 gr TSX, no muss no fuss, dead moose.
