I just got back from a gopher shooting trip where I tried using the 36gr Varmint Grenades in a .221. I had loaded up 16gr of H4227 and many times after hitting gophers they were walking away like they'd been shot with a .22 rimfire. Looked like a pencil hole right through them. After 50 rounds I was not very impressed.

I also had 50 rnds of 40gr BlitzKings in front of 14.5 gr of 4227 and they were blowing the gophers in half.

Anyone else have any results with the 36gr Varmint Grenades?
Thanks

Don't know for sure, probably around 3200. No signs of pressure. The 14.5 gr behind a 40gr BK is in the 3000 range. Some guy on Varminthunter.com was shooting the 36's out of a .223 at different velocities at Prairie Dogs and had similar results to me.

They work great in my Hornet. They seem to be a little less explosive than the 35 grain VMAX for the most part, but once in a while you'll get a nice 'pop.' They do seem to act more like 22lr on the tiny baby gophers
