About 15 years ago I bought a very nice used 30-06 and having read some of the great things that were being written about the barnes X bullets, I picked up a box of PMC factory loads with the 165 grain X bullets. They were the most accurate factory load I can recall. (1/2")
That fall I went on a horse back hunt for mulies and lost 2 deer.
Minimal blood trails from both. When I got home I did some comparisons with the X bullets, and a couple of other -06 loads that I had. Remington C/L, Nosler partitions, etc. I filled a box with old hunting magazines and shot holes in it at 100 yards. The X bullet penatrated much further but hardly opened at all....I stopped using X bullets and stopped believing what I read in hunting magazines.
I keep hearing how the TSX is a much better expanding bullet and would like to know what you guys have experienced with its performance on game. I am particularly interested in its performance in the 338 W/M on moose and grizzly.
