Barnes cr-10 bore cleaner

I use it and like it, and do not get 'infinite blue' - I can clearly tell when it is no longer taking out copper. I use it in combination with a good carbon cleaner, sometimes alternating usage back and forth to work out layers.

CR-10 is a really aggressive cleaner, good for quick cleaning. If you are getting infinite blue patches you are either using a brass or copper jag/brush or your bore is really, really fouled.

Don't waste your money on CR10, it's nothing more than ammonia. Canadian Tire has 1.8L jugs of ammonia for under $3, waaaaay cheaper. Any janitorial ammonia around 10% works just as good for a fraction of the cost.

Yes to the above.
Try wrapping your patch around a nylon brush, you may need to look around to find one with the looped end.

I think your quite wrong; I myself woulden't want to use straight ammonia in my bore as it maywreak it. I'm guessing that CR10 is only about 50-60% pure ammonia, mixed with some form of oil to make it less volatile. In saying that, I use it in conjunction with Hoppes #9, and I like it very much. If your noy using a copper brush, and your still getting blue, then it's indicating that you still have work gewtting the copper out...........please remember to read the instructions, and not leave it in for more than 10 minutes at a time!

I think CR10 is good for removing stubborn copper. I only use it when I can see a glint of copper and Hoppes Benchrest or one of my other cleaners is not removing it.

I've had very good results removing copper fouling with CR10. It isn't however really a good cleaning solution. I prefer shooters choice for straight cleaning, then CR10 if the barrel is really fouled.

I have used it where heavy, stubborn copper fouling is evident. It works about like Sweet's 7.62. For general purpose cleaning, my favorite is Butch's Bore Shine. In a good smooth bore, it is all I ever need. Eagleye.

It's nowhere near 50-60%. Janitors ammonia is around 10%, household ammonia around 3%. Hoppe's is 10% ammonia, I doubt CR10 is much if any more. Percentages aren't the point, the only problem with ammonia is that it attracts moisture, so after you swab it dry run a patch with oil down the barrel to prevent rust. Ammonia will weaken softer metals like brass however.

i use phosfor bronze brushes. i can't find nylon brushes. the stores do not carry them.(the stores in winnipeg) my .223 is new. i bought it this year and i have been cleaning every 50 rounds so i doubt it's badly fould.
