Barnes match burner bullets.

Tried them, hated them. Bought 1000 of them and they are ####. 300m groups were bigger than any other 155 gr bullet. 100 yard testing told me I needed another gr of powder to shrink the groups back to match the accuracy of any other 155 gr bullet. 300m groups and long range groups (700m, 800m and 900m) are no where near any other 155 gr bullet.
I have about 700 more of them loaded already and will try some more at a practice this weekend. This was the ammo I planned to shoot at the ORA and DCRA, but didn't even take it with me.
Nothing but Lapua bullets from now on.
 
Buying 1000 and finding out they are crap is definitely painful. I feel for you.

With my normal load of 46 gr of Varget I can get any 155 gr bullet to shoot well. I am shooting a target rifle with iron sights off my elbows. The rifle has a Millennium action with a 30 inch Kreiger barrel and .308 Obermeyer match chamber.
My first testing was at 300m with the bullets touching the lands. This load was lucky to hold the 4 ring on a DCRA target. Short range testing, 100 yards a few days later showed I needed an extra gr of powder and the bullet seated .020" off for best results. 46 gr produced a group just under 2 inches at 100:mad: While working up to 47 gr of Varget and .020" off produced a 5/8" group.
Thinking I had the right load, I shot the NCRRA long range match. While conditions were very windy, I lost more shots to elevation than wind.

I will test them again this weekend at a practice, but I have my doubts. I have left over ammo that I loaded for the DCRA that I will use for a match on Sunday.
