Looking to generate a load for whitetail deen in NS based on 7mm-08, looking for loads prepared for Barnes TSX/Tipped TSX bullets as well as online retailers for Barnes bullets. There is currently no reatailers for Barnes components within 200 km of here. Any links appriciated.

Hey buddy! I use the barnes 140 grain in my 7-08 here in manitoba. what a great bullet! I'll check the load data and send you a pm... I don't like to post specific loads.

Me Too

Hey upnorth,
I am also interested in developing a load for 140 gr. Barnes TSX out of my 7mm-08. I would appreciate it you passes any "recipes" you have found to me as well. Thanks

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but at least I searched:D.

So, does anyone have any good load data? Will be hunting deer, bear and moose, what powder are you having good results with speed/accuracy?

I have both 140 grain ttsx and 139 grain sst's.

Thanks in advance.

Use the same data as the TSX for the TTSX. For the SST, use any 139gr or 140 gr jacketed bullet data, hogdon, nosler, etc...

Barnes 7mm-08 data

I use IMR 4895 in the 7-08

Found this data on the Hodgdon site for reloading data, would it be a good place to start for the sst's:

Bullet: 139 GR. HDY SP
Powder: IMR 4895
Bullet dia.: 284"
C.O.L.: 2.800"

Starting loads
grains: 40.5 Vel.(f/s): 2706 Pressure: 43,600 CUP

Max. loads
grains: 43.2 Vel.(f/s): 2851 Pressure: 49,900 CUP

Gawd man the Barnes manual is full of 140gr TTSX loads for the 7mm-08...just buy one..or give people an idea of what powder you were wanting to us.

As for online retailers try:

www.wholesalesports.com
www.cabelas.ca
Or try Ominica Source for Sports @ 1 866 567 9885

It's not that hard to get your hands on Barnes bullets, at least it hasn't been for me for nearly a year.

Okay thanks everyone, I've looked through the info already. Will be getting a couple manuals and reading them through and through. Just want to order all my components now if possible in case there is a back order. Have decided on all components but powder.

Was just wondering what others have found works well for them. Looking for a powder that may be good with both bullet choices or a powder for each that will be consistent in various temps as I will be hunting/target shooting in variable conditions. I see there are a few that will fit the bill but hoping to hear how others are finding them with consistency/velocity/accuracy.

Thanks again.

I've had great luck in my 7mm-08 with IMR 4350 for 140grn bullets. Both nosler ballistic tips and accubonds. I use CCI 200 large rifle primers, and get good results summer and winter here in the Yukon. (30C to -25C)
