The physics is they're not spinning fast enough. How close were you to book max with your powder charge?
It's not as simple as that.
To answer your question, I got within a half grain of max load and stopped - bolt lift was getting real stiff by that point.
What I meant by "the physics" was why one bullet of the same length will stabilize while another doesn't. I agree with James above that it likely has to do with the center of gravity for the projectile being further forward. It's also likely related to the overall mass (a heavier bullet of the same length will be more stable, and more weight forward will be more stable). Think of a dart or a paper airplane with a paperclip on the nose. I'm wondering if anyone can explain this.
The Barnes are actually about 2/100 shorter on average than the Sierras, but the Sierras stabilized just fine.
There's more to this than bullet length - that's what I'm asking about here.
