Why a bullet hit a paper with his side instead of his front?

Today I test my reload and realized that my rifles dont like the barnes tsx.

1 series- barnes tsx 130gr .270 with imr 4350 and cc large rifle primer
=bad group 2inch at 50y

2 series- same load but 150gr bullet
= bad group 6inc at 100y and bullet dont make a hole but a bullet form.

May I know why this $&@ happens?

Thank you

1 How far was the bullet seated from the lands? Barnes recommends seating the bullet .050" from the lands as a starting point, and I find that the TSX/TTSX does best in my rifles when seated from .040" to .070" from the lands.

2 The bullet is not stabilizing in your rifle. Most 270win rifles have a rate of twist of 1 in 10". Barnes clearly states on their website that the .277" 150gr TSX requires a rate of twist of 1 in 9.5" or faster. If your rifle has a rate of twist slower than 1 in 9.5" , it's a case of you choosing a bullet that just isn't suitable for your rifle.

Jees I've forgotten tha statement about the twist rate...
On their website they state 1:9.5 just for the 150gr. The 130gr and 140gr does'nt have this statement. Maybe I should try the 140gr

By the way my rifle is 1:10 twist ...

Thank you

Bullets KEYHOLING on paper are not compatible with the rifles barrel TWIST
You really can't blame one certain brand over another.
The advantage of the Barnes is their tremendous bullet retention on big game.
BARNES recommends a seating depth of 50 thou or more from the barrel lands for best accuracy.

I dont wanna blame barnes for sure...
My loads were just above the starting load suggestion by 1gr. After keyhole appears I didnt want to go further with my test.
About the seating deph I dont mind about it. I just trim the case and use the coal to be spec.

Thank you guys!

If that is the case, the odds of achieving optimum accuracy with the TSX/TTSX, are not good. In some rifles, these bullets can be quite fussy about how far they are seated from the lands.

In fact , regardless of the bullet type, the distance from the lands can be a significant factor, in the accuracy that you achieve.
