Wonder if these have plastic tips. They might have problems getting them into canada with the 'explosive' moniker, even though they're NOT (likely) 'explosive' so much as highly frangible

I did a bit of a search, and found out that these bullets are "lead-free" copper jackets and a tin core. Hollow points.
They are introducing them to celebrate Barnes' 75th anniversary.

from MidWayUSA's site :

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Varmint Grenade bullets feature a frangible copper/tin composite core. These accurate bullets can be driven at the highest velocities without coming apart, yet fragments explosively upon impact. Perfect for varmint hunting.

36 grain 22 caliber is what they show

Based on what you know about reloading....what do you think they would be like as far as pelt damage?

sounds like they're made for gophers, so they might be too fragile and splash on impact? 36 grain would suck at longer ranges too

Why? They're tin, not lead, so they'll have a much longer and more aerodynamic shape than a conventional lead core bullet. I'd expect that their BC wouldn't be too different than a 50 or 55gr conventional bullet.
