I just reloading some test load of 7mm rem mag . I took them out to the range to try them out . At on hundred meter I shot three round all hit dead center ,and less the a quater inch group . I us 61 grs of IMR 7828 federal brass trimmed to 2.290 inchs feral large rifle primmer and barnes x 160 hole point . IF you know of better load please let me know . thanks in advance Joe Lafortune .

It doesn't sound like you have much room for improvement to me

I've been getting similar accuracy results with 130 TSXs in my 270 WSM. Are you shooting the new TSXs or the "original" Barnes? The accuracy consistency seems to be a lot better with the new TSX line.... a lot of guys couldn't get the original Barnes to shoot out of their rifles, but can with the TSX.

I am one of those people. The original x bullet shot poorly in my rifles but the tsx has proven to be very accurate with no fouling problems like the original x bullet.

the bullets I am reloading with are 7 mm .284 dia 160 gr X . I have not seen the tsx as of late . but I will keep my eye out fot them . has anyone done exspansion tests on the Barnes x bullet . I was thinking about using this load for elk . any help would be great . thanks in advance Joe  :?:

I have also jsut had good results with TSX's in my 260 and my son's 270. In the past Xbullets are hard to get to shoot. I wouldn't change a thing with yours.

There have been reports of inconsistant expansion with the original x bullet.Apparently some bullets failed to expand properly. The tsx has had the hollow point redesigned and apparently expand very reliably.

I really like the Triple Shock X in my 260, and I like the XLC in my 25-284.

I shot many critters with the 160 & 175 gr. regular X in my 7mm Mag I hunted with. Great bullet. I used IMR 4831 with the 160's.

I have a box of 130 grain X bullets (older type) for my 270 Winchester. I was planning to use standard loading data for 130 gr. bullets but I now realize I cannot do that because these bullets are just too different. I can't seem to find loading data at all for this bullet in my calibre. Do I have to buy the Barnes manual or can somebody help me out with a few loads? The powders I have are IMR 3031 (sort of fast and not too good for this use I suspect) and Win 760. I will buy a different powder if I can find some loads for it.

130 gr. X & 270

from Barnes #2

H414 - 55.0 grs ~ 3120 fps
H4350 - 55.0 grs ~ 3142 fps
H4831 - 60.0 grs ~ 3072 fps

IMR 4350 - 55.0 grs ~ 3095 fps
IMR 4831 - 58.0 grs ~ 3149 fps

W760 - 54.5 grs ~ 3128 fps

RL19 - 58.5 grs ~ 3152 fps
RL22 - 60.0 grs ~ 3167 fps

Another convert to the X bullet. :D :D 8) DAN>>>

the new triple shock 160gr shot really consistent in my 7-08, had to adjust my scope as they flew and 1.5 " higher and had to bring it down, as for expansion i just returned from the kwatna region from my brothers grizzly hunt, they punch out his lunds from 150yrds and did not exit.
