To those proponents of the process of breaking a rifle barrel in, I pose a conundrum to ye. (Well, sort of)
Is it advantageous to break in pistol barrel the same way you'd break in a rifle barrel? (My process is to alternate cleaning and taking one shot for a box of 20 after an initial thorough clean with a copper solvent)
I was specifically wondering if it would ease cleaning/improve accuracy for pistols with polygonal rifling.
Thanks.

I don't think breaking in a handgun barrel is really necessary, handguns aren't bound to the same level of accuracy and there really isn't all that much barrel to break in. That being said I've never had a new handgun. When I do, I'll just clean it after every 100 rounds for the first 500 and call it a day.

Most handgun break in is about springs, recoil operation and reliability.

Although, being the sort who is thorough to the point of lunacy, I'll probably clean every 20
