Good day all,
Okay here is the situation.
I have a close friend who has a terminally ill mother, his father has already past. His dad had an assortment of firearms, one of these being a S&W model 39 in 9mm.
His mom wanted to turn all these firearms into the crown, I strongly advised against is because if his kids ever wanted to shoot "grandpas" guns they are gone forever.
His new girlfriend is an "anti" nuff said and does not want them in his house. This spurred me to going after my RPAL so I can register them and whenever his kids want to come shoot them we can go to the range.
I since have purchased 2 handguns for myself, however I want some advice on what to do about this Model 39. It only has a 4" barrel making it a prohibited firearm by definition (although only by an eight of an inch). I figured I could just buy a barrel with a threaded end and replace it in the firearm to give me the proper length.
Can you members give me some advice or ideas. The gun is in outstanding shape and it would be a shame to not be able to keep it near his family in a sort of way.
Also how, and what is the procedure to go pick these guns up, in terms of ATT and SATT, obviously the original owner is not around to start the transfer.
Thanks all and I look forward to the response.
