Barrel interchange on Rem 870

I have a Rem 870 in 12ga x 3-1/2" that I am selling for my fathers estate. When he bought it it also came with a rifled slug barrel with a 3" chamber ( factory combo gun purchased brand new). I had a guy asking me to sell him just the slug barrel, which he wants to put on a 2-3/4" receiver. My question is will it fit his receiver? I am aware that he would be limited to 2-3/4" rounds and I am pretty sure he is aware of that too.

Should fit fine yes and yes 2.75" only

Thanks. I don't really want to separate it, but on the off chance somebody doesn't want the slug barrel, I wanted to know.

Unless your in a shotgun only deer season area it would be easy to sell as a combo , if not sell the barrel seperate

If his gun has a standard length 870 mag tube (4 shells) then yes it will fit, if it’s a one piece factory extended mag tube then it won’t fit. Some newer 870 tactical models have a longer mag tube from the factory, barrel ring is not in the same place and standard barrels won’t lock in place.
