I am looking for a clay gun does a 26in. barrel hit targets better than a 28in. I have found a X3 Winchester but it is 26in. barrel or should I hold out to find a 28in. I know the longer the barrel is better but 26-28 make that much difference in shot guns.

Thanks

Thanks Win/64 . Looks like about an even debate, but I think I can switch barrels on the X3 so if I wanted a longer barrel just interchange.

If you are using it just for Clay's I would stick with 28" or even 30". For me they swing smoother.

What Win 64 said. I have a Silver Pigeon 2 with a 28 inch barrel that I really like for Clays and Skeet, but from watching what people are shooting, when I get out lately :-( and following various websites, it looks like most people are shooting longer barrels, e.g. 30 inch or even 32.

Most folks that shoot alot of clay birds prefer longer barrels for a smoother swing on the targets, my Trap guns have 34" single barrels and 32" double barrels. Over the years, skeet shooters have gone to longer barrels for the same reason, at one time 26"bl. was kinda standard on skeet guns. Now 30 and 32" barrels are common on the skeet fields.

I want to thank every one who posted on this,it has really helped me to make my mind up. I went with a winchester super X3 wood 28in. I should be picking it up this week for I had to order it. I am really looking forward to go out in the back 40 to try it out.

Again thanks .

The SX3 is a very good quality gun. Have fun!
