Barrel length and accuracy

Guys,
I'm new to pistol shooting and am going to start with a Uberti cattleman which I will shoot offhand...no more than plinking really. My question is, in terms of barrel length which would be more accurate 4.75" or 7.5"? Intuitively I would have thought 7.5", but am wondering if the extra time in the barrel would make the bullet more susceptible to freehand 'wobble'?

Longer sight radius would be beneficial, other things being the same. But maybe the longer barrel would feel awkward to you.

If you can handle both, see if one feels better than the other. And compare the triggers. One might feel better than the other.

the time the bullet is in the barrel is insignificant

A longer barrel usually equals a longer point between the front sight and the rear sight which will help the shooter be more accurate
However a shorter barrel is stiffer if the same diameter and construction so should be potentially a more accurate barrel

as Ganderite stated it it balances and feels better to your grip in the long run that is more important

longer barrels will be heavier and can help with recoil,...but the bullet is also going to be travelling faster and add to the recoil. so it will cancel out the weight benefits more often then not in most loading outside of .22 and .38 special

Thanks guys, it sounds like fit and comfort are the main considerations. I'll be loading black powder so recoil should not be an issue. I had an original Navy .36, only cap and ball as I'm from UK, but the longer barrel felt fine, so I'll check out both Uberti's.
