i've got a norinco 780 "home defence" with the 14 in barrel.
can i make it an inch ....or inch and a half longer, legally, without having it verified??

the back story would be, i'm putting on an extension tube and my buddy's whippin me up a butt kickin' "breach"..... at about 2 inch overall length.

If I'm reading correctly you want to add a breach to the end of your barrel.
As this is not really part of the barrel it would not effect the length by legal standpoint.

ya, but it doesn't have a choke tube. this'll slide on over the barrel and be welded on. the inside dia of the extra length will be matched to the cyl bore. so esentially it will be a 15.5 or 16 in lenth bore

(Why do you want to add to it?

Would a extended choke tube work? )

the mag extension is gonna be longer than the barrel. so i'm just making them "equal length"

I think you should really check with your CFO on the matter: Strictly speaking, it sounds like what you are planning would constitute modifying a barrel such that it is less than 18" in length. Thus, manufacturing a prohibited device. It doesn't matter if you are making it longer or shorter - If you are modifying the barrel length, and it winds up less than 18", it's prohibited. Dumb rule, but it's on the books.

It depends on how your modification is interpreted by "the powers that be". I'd ask them directly if you want to stay in the clear.
