where in Canada can I get a barrel liner need one for .25-20 I got a .25 stevens with a sewer pipe bore that could use a relining going to keep it in .25 stevens
 
In the past I was very happy with the barrel liners I was getting from Track of the Wolf but unfortunately they no longer supply these to Canada. You might try Brownells Inc and see if they will ship one to you as they carry Redman Liners. I am going through the process of getting some DOM tubing out of Illinois with a .625 O.D. and a .355 bore which I am planning on experimenting with to try and make 38-55 liners. Good Luck. D.H.

im sure DOM that size could be had local I used 5/8's dom on a motorcycle project
 
Have a look at w ww.aircraftspruce.ca. They carry quality 4130 tubing for use in aircraft construction. Quite a variety of sizes, some of which could be reamed to bore size, and then rifled. Excellent company with which to do business.
 
Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou I will check out this lead. In my quest to come up with an affordable project with some potential to offer 38-55 forward tensioning liners that can be used in 12 and 20 gauge single shot shot guns (for the one gun suits all survival group) I seem to be burdened with the heavy shipping costs from the Chicago mills for small batch quantities. Fingers crossed I can save a wee bit if your lead pans out while I experiment with trying to cut rifle 4130 CM after the initial ream. Thanks again. D.H.
 
Brownells will export, but the export fee requirement kicks in. For one liner it would be prohibitive. For a large quantity, not a big deal.

Got a good supply of .25 Stevens ammunition?

few ways of making it from something as simple as .25 acp brass or even sizing .22 hornet down in a .25 acp die and turning the rim down and using a .22 blank as the primer.

there's also the new .17 WSM that's supposed to be based off of the .27 cal nail gun blanks and from my testing .27 cal blanks fit perfectly so the .17 WSM cases could be cut below the neck and used as .25 Stevens.

going to gun shows and the like it should not be hard to pick up a box or two of .25 Stevens
 
Is the rifle a Favorite or a Model 44? Relining to .22 is easy, if you can get a 5/16" Redman liner.
Relining to .25 rimfire would be a lot of expense and effort to come up with a rifle that needs improvised cartridges. At least .25 Stevens doesn't use heeled bullets.
I suspect that a .25 Stevens reamer would be a special order- add at least $150 to the cost right there.

Before the rules changed, I used to get Redman liners from Brownells and others from Track of the Wolf.

its a Favorite but I got plenty of .22's don't really need another.
 
A Favorite is a nice little rifle, but it isn't the strongest or most durable.
The last Redman .22 liner I had went into a Favorite.
The cost of this conversion is going to be way more than the rifle is worth.

I don't look at things that way I rarely sell firearms so I don't care much about the return but for the price I got it for there still would be a little meat left

I may try cleaning it well and back boring the worn out muzzle end first
 
My winchester low wall in 25 stevens long has an ugly bore .Gave it a good cleaning and tested it and got aprox 6" pattern at 50 yards with the old dominion ammo.loaded up some .257 85 gr bullet barn lead cast with unique tightened up to under an inch .

this is past ugly pitting and the rifling is worn out at the muzzle I tried some #3 buckshot and a .27 cal blanks with the powder removed but it was shot shooting that great
