Barrel magnetised?????????

The barrel on my xd 40 is magnetised.I can pic up a safety pin with it.WTF?????

Pretty common for steel to become magnetized when machined or polished. Go out and shoot a bunch through it. Heat usually weakens the magnetic field.

How I figured it out?Sure I took the barrel out of the slide to clean it and noticed it seemed attracted to the steel of the slide.Slightly wasnt sure so I opened the desk drawer and there was a safety pin which I set on the desk and picked up with the barrel.Your right it is funny to notice your barrel is magnetic.So xd's not only shoot good they can alo help you retrieve small metallic objects you drop on a shag rug Another reason to own a handgun like I needed any more.
