Barrel mods...

Send it to a quality gunsmith and pay bill. Chrome lined barrels are more of a pain in the ass. Reinstalling the bead could interfere with some chokes on thin barrels

Ellwood epps has a list of costs involved in what u want. I believe they are competitive but feel free to shop around. Cutting the barrel is easy. I don't know how to tap a barrel I'm no machinist. However I agree shorter barrels are nice in the bush. I use a 18.5" cylinder barrel and it works great for playing around and small game. I have though about having it choked never got around to it yet

Just another possibility for what it is going to cost you to have the barrel cut, 3 tubes and fitting you would be able to pick up probally another shotgun all ready factory done
I don't do 12ga anymore not worth it, assuming your 2200 is a 12ga
Briley charged me almost 300 plus taxes, shipping both ways etc to have the last 16ga done as you are talking

Thought of that too but the wife is starting to get upset at all the shotguns i have so i was thinking about this mod. If it's going to cost $300 plus, i'm just going to have to find a few extra bucks and get a weatherby pa-08.

Sell the 2200 to help pay for the new Weatherby.

I traded my 2200 because I wanted a lever action 35 Remington. Barrels for them are about as common as hen's teeth and it's cost prohibitive [in my mind] to have it threaded for choke. However, I think I did see a Winchester 2200 on the EE that was threaded for choke.

I looked for it but didn't see it.

I can't seem to find a shorter barrel for my winchester 2200 so i thought this coud be an alternative. I would like to make this an all round shotgun.

Epps just listed an entire gun with 24" and choke tubes. You could not have a barrel modified for that price.
take care

Not too long ago I had an Ithaca 37 barrel shortened and fitted with screw in chokes. Bill for machining the barrel was $100, plus the cost of the chokes. Add another $20-30 for shortening the barre. I had to use Colonial thin wall chokes because of the older thinner barrel. I can't remember what the chokes are worth, but you can look them up on Brownell's.

I turned my old hand-me-down Ithaca with a 30" full choke barrel that I had no use for into a turkey/slug gun, fitted with a peep sight and a 22" barrel. Final bill was higher because of a lot of other little details that had to be taken care of.
