I have an unmarked barrel in .22, that looks to mount in the same fashion as the 10-22. It is longer than the 10-22 barrels and slimmer. It has a plain, unthreaded shank .712" (18+mm) dia, by 1.181" long (very near exactly 30mm), and 23 3/4 inches overall.
Trying to find out what it might have come off of.
Two extractor cuts and a flat cut under the chamber on a otherwise flat chamber end. There is a dovetail cut in about the same spot as a 10-22 has its cut, a dovetail on top for a rear sight, and a single screw hole at the muzzle end for the front sight.
Any guesses?
What other .22's use a similar retaining system as the Ruger?
I figure the dovetail was there for that purpose, or the action had to clamp down on the shank.
Cheers
