I have a problem that i could use some help with, I am having a new Krieger barrel installed on my rifle. I have a choice between a med weight 18.5" barrel and heavy weight 22" barrel or wait for a while for a 22" medium wieght barrel.
From what I understand the heavy wieght barrel will not fit in my Blackfeather stock so may not be an option.
Would like to hear from others that have installed the 18.5" or 22" medium barrels on thier rifles and how they liked them?
Anyone have one of the heavy wieght barrels? I could swap the stock with my other rifle if need be, haven't heard much about these barrels though.

You will definitely run into fitment issues with a heavy barrel and the blackfeather. (According to their instruction manual)
I'm currently doing 2 builds, one's a medium weight Krieger 18.5" and the other is a medium weight LRB 22".
I gotta say, I've never been into the short barrels, but after seeing how solid the Krieger is, I'm considering it over my 22" LRB!!!
If you don't care for the 100ish fps loss go 18.5" medium weight.

Heavy barrels are cool, but that's a lot of weight for a non lugged receiver to support. Go medium and enjoy it with your Blackfeather!

I've installed 30ish krieger and criterion 18.5" medium barrels.
Love em....
I have only installed around a dozen heavy profile kriegers and yes... They add significant weight and become bench/prone rifles.
I have also installed a good number of the 22" medium.
I own a rifle with krieger 18.5" medium and it is my favorite rifle. I also have a DMR stainless 22" medium which is my bench rifle.
The 18.5 is my favorite all around as it balances better in my M14S-CQB carbon stock. It shines at the range and is just as handy in the field.
Dunno if that helps you but having played around with a few blackfeathers I'd say the rifle would balance and handle superbly and be an easy 600 yard rifle all day long ;)

I have an old super match with a Hart heavy and its not suitable for packing all day but I think it's fine for the range. Provided you can back up to the line or have a wagon. Who sells Krieger here?

I've had my DMR 22" since 2008. My 18.5" came from Jerry at Mystic Precision a coupe years ago.
There are a number of reputable dealers here that can source krieger and criterion barrels. LRB barrels are made by Criterion as well.

That's right, my LRB medium weight SS DMR profile is made by Criterion, which I got directly from LRBs website and imported through Prophet River.

Thanks everyone, I have a Krieger medium 22 inch barrel coming, hopefully it will be here some time in February! Also working on a Springfield 22" take off barrel in medium. One of them will be taking a while to build..... Just can't help myself! The disease, the addiction?
Still interested in range reports, standard barrel versus medium barrel or heavy barrel. Anyone have experience with the difference in accuracy in the same rifle with upgraded barrel installed?

Just the barrel.
Only the heavy requires it's own oprod guide which differs fron the standard one that fits the medium.

True..... but once you replace the barrel, welllll maybe it deserves a better bolt, what about a unitized gas system. Boy sure would be nice to have a better stock!!!
All you need to change is the barrel, all the original parts will fit the new barrel but I know I can't stop there.
