Barrel painting?

I good as to how to paint the stock but what I want to know is if you are doing the entire gun, stock scope and barrel, do you use the same finish on the barrel? Does the heat from the barrel effect the paint and make it peel off or are you safe? I'm going for camo is why I will be painting the barrel.

I have a couple of gun that I painted. They look fine, and after couple of seasons if they look little worn just touch them up. The steel will hold the paint better if you have it sand or bead blasted before you paint it.
I start out with some high temp wood stove paint in flat black then hit it with several colors of camo paint.
