barrel porting

I have my guns ported. I feel it does seem to reduce felt recoil especially in the summer shooting a couple of boxes of full loads in a tee shirt

Porting will reduce your muzzle flip for recoil have your forcing cone lengthened. Just had both of these mods done to an 18" 870 by Casey at Tacord. Fast service and great prices.

Skeet and trapshooters have been doing it for years. It's supposed to help give a more consistant pattern

I don't think it will make much difference in noise to the shooter, but to those around it might make a slight difference. However, letting some gas port a couple of inches earlier than the already short 18" barrel probably won't make much of a difference.

I shot a half round of sporting clays with my 14" barrelled wingmaster and the guy who was taking us around sure noticed it was blasty. But those guys are used to 28-30" Berretta self loaders.
