Barrel question

recently bought a used heavy barrel model 70. Was cleaning it up and noticed this in the muzzle end. Have not shot it yet but was looking for some guidance, I realize it's wear but looks weird.

Well looks like button rifling.

They press a hardened steel button down the barrel to cut the rifling. So there is start and stops.

Oh ok. Thanks. Like I said I haven't tried it yet. Just something I haven't seen on my other rifles.

Shoot it and report back, it will be interesting if there is any accuracy issue?!?!

Waiting for a base for it. Probably next week. LGS had a 20 moa but my old Redfield 6-18 doesn't have enough internal adjustment to 0. Will post once I get out and use it.

If you use Burris rings with inserts, you can adjust it to work. - dan

LGS is mostly leupold and Weaver stuff. The 20 moa rail was sitting in a corner covered in dust. Had no other model 70 stuff.

Amazon sells them. Ebay. Can even find them here on the EE from time to time. - dan

You'll findout that sometimes you gotta order online. I rather get what I want, than make due with what I don't.
