I'm having a hell of a time removing the barrel from my 10/22. It's a newer one with the polymer trigger group. I'd say it's never been off. Just wondering if you have any tricks and also if anyone else has run in to this problem. I'm not afraid to hit it with a dead blow and a wooden block and it still won't budge.

You might want to take a look at the Rimfirecentral.com 10/22 forums for this. There was a recent thread on the topic, with lots of useful suggestions. I even put in one of my own, that might help you out!

It appears that some of the newer 10/22's have exceptionally tight barrels. My 1980's one just slides out once the V-block is off...

Take the 2 v-block bolts out first.....Just kidding. I hold the barrel with the action down over foam. Then tap on the v block mount, not the front of the magwell, firmly with a deadblow hammer. A few taps & it will slip off. Watch the progress carefully so it doesnt fly away!
