My Super Nova received some surface scratches while in the weeds last night. Doesn't look like it is right down to the metal. Does the Benelli barrel have a coating? How would I go about refinishing the scratches. Would I use the Blueing stuff you get at the gun shop?

Thanks.

It is called character marks. If you hunt you get marks. If you worry about them you will go nuts. Rub down with an oily rag and carry on. when the season is over clean well and if metal is showing a little cold bluing helps hide them.

I really don't give a crap what it looks like, but I do think I notices a little pit of rusting in those scratched areas. I am more concerned about protection.

I also wasn't sure if the Nova barrel is blued or if it is some other type of coating.

Thanks.

RIG gun grease is your friend. Nothing better, IMHO, in preventing rust on a firearm (or anything else, for that matter).
