Trying to put a long range shooter together and noticed that I can get a barrelled action and start from there but also noticed that it is also about the same price as a complete rifle....What are the differences and advantages, if any.
I’m looking at building around the Remington 700 action in 308 with oversized bolt handle and a
24”-26” medium barrel w/muzzle break in a B&C Medalist type stock out to 600 yds
Any info would be great!
Thx

The only difference is component selection. You get to choose the parts. Other than that, if its custom then it is the same as previous. If you are buying off the EE, then you get what some one else has chosen. Comes down to $$$ in the end. If you are looking for a competitive build hovering around a grand then you will want to look closely at the Savage platform. How deep is your pocket book is where it ends.
Elkys two cents...

I’m not looking at breaking the bank here. Just something that I can enjoy shooting and practicing at longer ranges. No competion shooting here.....I’ll be looking in the EE for what i need.
Thx

I had a couple in Cadex chassis and they were great shooters.
This cost me about $1500 and if you ever decide to do a barrel swap, the savage prefit is a easy DIY job.

Barreled actions are fine - that's all I've been doing lately. I put in the trigger of my choosing (BnA Tacsport) and drop it in a chassis (JAE).

If you put it in a fiberglass stock, you will want to get it bedded. So it's not quite as "plug and play" as a chassis is. Make sure you get components that work with the barreled action (trigger, chassis/stock, etc.). Certain things may not quite go together as expected with tolerance stacking between parts - this is where a gunsmith is nice to have.

That JAE is one nice stock to not be running a custom action in. Those things are crazy expensive up here, like for an extra $200 i could own 2 MPA competition chassis for the price of 1 JAE.

Buy remington 40x barreled actions and build from there.
Not , inexpensive, but you will be building on the action that the US
Military started out with in Vietnam

I wouldn't recommend a newer Remington. QA/QC is p*ss poor, and pouring money into them up to standard is not a good value proposition. With that said, LRI does a badass Rem700 barreled action for a good price - you would have to find a way to get it up to Canada.

Howa sells barreled actions. Buy a Tikka and sell the stock. Or get a gunsmith like Insite Arms to spin you up a barreled action using a Bighorn Origin, ARC Nucleus, Defiance Tenacity. Drop it in a KRG Bravo.
