I'm think of building another target rifle and can't seem to find any aftermarket barrel for the T3.

Who, if any, makes barrels for the T3 action and what 's the quality???

I haven't seen any prechambered and threaded barrels available for the Tikka.
Pick your barrel maker, pick your cartridge and most importantly find a "COMPETENT" gunsmith.
Rebarreling a Tikka is not rocket science and is pretty straight forward.

Agreed. For best result, you don't want a pre-fab job anyway.

The T3 is not a round action, and it has a sharp curve down towards the barrel shank. For optimal esthetics and stock fit, you should order a barrel with a 1.200" shank end. The rest is straight forward. We have some great gunsmiths in BC who can mount a barrel.

What restricts you is the recoil lug, these are located in the stock and fit in a notch within the action. It means you are limited as to your choice of after-market stocks, plus you must be exceedingly careful bedding them.

Bedding the T3 stocks is easier in some respects then the conventional lug actions.

Any barrel maker can offer you blanks that can be readily installed on your Tikka.

Very nice actions but am not aware of any light pull triggers.

Something to consider...

no, to ensure proper engagement with the recoil lug in its notch.

Would it be possible to use a standard lug as in a Remington style with a new barrel on a Tikka or Sako and mod a stock to receive this type of thing.I know I'm just typing at the moment and am to lazy to go take my Sako apart to look at how stupid that question has been, so don't beat me up to bad. I'm only thinking if you could move the lug location in a regular stock and secure it in Devcon could you not come out with a solution. ( I know I know ,If it was possible it would have been done already )

Cheers

I wasn't sure if there was any one that made barrels or not. I presumed that there wasn't as there stocks are a one of a kind with no aftermarket ones.

Maybe I'll just get a Stevens 200 as it seems like it would be easier/cheaper to build.
