Anyone here put one of these fieldcrafts to use? They seem to get great reviews. I’m interested in the 1:7” 243 Winchester and the 6.5x55. Are they kimber killers? Sure like to get my hands on one to try out.

Search Fieldcraft in this forum was a discussion last December. Handled a couple, very nice. Quality work and very smooth, if they shoot like NULA they will be a winner.

I like the FC a lot in SA chamberings, but they are not a Kimber killer, IMO. I like some things about the Kimber better, esp the stock ergos. Obviously that is in large part just personal preference.

I’d buy whichever one made a LH SA offering first. ;)

I have the short lived Forbes version, got it at Prophet River. The finish on mine isn’t as nice, but very functional for a using gun. Shoots great with 139gr Interbonds and points well. 6lbs scoped and loaded it is a dream to carry when I feel like going for a long hike.

Yep. I’d waaaaaay sooner go get a custom barreled action from go big tactical and drop it in a stock and have a way nicer action. Or build off an action.

The odds of you building anything at or under 5.2 pounds aren't very good. Especially for less than the cost of a Barrett FC. ;)

Curious which action, barrel and stock you would pick to have assembled for 2500 bucks and coming in at around 5 1/4 lbs.

I have one in a long action. Very nice fit and finish. Got mine before they jacked the prices so even better bang for my buck. Haven't done any load development yet to see what it can really do but so far it feeds well and action is super slick. Trigger was 2.75lbs out of the box. Not as light as my modified Kimber Hunter but already have that for my super-light so wasn't pushing for that with the Barrett, just wanted something that was light enough to still be comfortable/handy but not a full on mountain rig. Currently topped it with a Viper HSLR 4-16x44 with a custom 1/4" elevation turret. Not sure if I'll keep that scope on it or try to find something lighter, not sure I want to try another Leupold as I've had issues with both of my most recent VX-3i so Swaro might be the only other option, maybe the Vortex Razor HD LH.

I have one and I love it. It’s so Lite and nice to carry and shoots hornady precision hunter 143 Eldx about 1/2” at 100 and stays under Moa at 750yds . As far as I have shot it so far

Impressive shooting out of a light weight gun, 7inch group at 750yards out of a sub 6lb gun is unreal from anyone.

Damn, just noticed the .270Win comes with a 1:9 twist. Tempting... (So is that Kimber of yours on the EE, Slimbo!)

Ive found ultralights difficult to shoot well in the past. Now that I've developed a preference for heavy scopes, I might just need a 5-1/2 lb rifle to hit my 7-1/2lb target weight, out the door.

Rethinking things a bit, here...

Anyone know what the magazine length is on a long action Fieldcraft? I know the short action is 3.0", could the long action possibly be 3.5"?

Remington could learn something from FC with longer mag boxes and faster twists.
