The shooting Edges was carrying the DTA SRS in .388 LM for $6700 without an optic or mounts, and weight is 12.25lbs unloaded and includes a full deployment kit and is 39 11/16" long OAL.

Wolverine Supplies is now carrying the Barrett MRAD in .338 LM for $6300 without an optic or mounts, and weight is 13.5 (w/ 20" barrel) unloaded and is 42.4" long OAL. It will also require a bi-pod as this is not included either.

I am really curious about which rifle is the better of the 2. I am very interested in both but that is not an option so I have to try and decide which one I will be happier with for a long time to come. I also still need to buy a S&B glass to go on either rifle but that is a seperate issue. Having not seen either rifle in person and before I drop this much money on a rifle I want get some honest feedback.

No idea which one is better, but I had an opportunity to fondle the SRS at the shooting edge and.... Wow. That's one impressive piece of engineering. Definitely felt like it would be worth every penny. Balance was incredible. If I wanted a long range hunting setup in as small of a package as possible, the SRS would be my choice.

...but then again, I've never fired either so take that for what you will lol.

Good luck with your decision, I'm sure you can't go wrong with either system.

At this level it really comes down to personal preference. If OAL is important to you, obviously the DTA has an advantage. I would make an effort to get behind each to see what fits you best, even if you have to travel to do so, for that kind of money you owe it to yourself. If it was me spending your money, considering the fact that a brand new AX is $7000, I wouldn't buy either.

I would actually like to be able to pack this rifle around and that was why I was listing the OAL. I hadn't considered the AX because equipt the way I would want it with the options from AI it would be closer to $9k. I was hoping to try and keep everything in with optics around $10k.

Also trying to find specs are difficult on AX for things like OAL and weight.

The Barret MRAD is a very nice rifle and Wolverine actually has some in stock. I have not seen a DTA actually in stock at TSE coming up close to a year now. It has been a month since I was at TSE, have they gotten any actually in stock? Actual availability may play a role in your decision.

Currently I own a DTA SRS Covert rifle in 308, and previously I owned a first generation DTA rifle in .338 LM. The rifle is extremely accurate and is capable of being switched from one caliber to the other, example the standard chassis supports .308/.300 Win Mag/.338LM with simple barrel & bolt changes. Because it is a bullpup chassis it has a straight inline stock, this by design produces and transmits less recoil to the shooter, when you add a factory muzzle brake it really shines. The SRS Covert with its 16 inch barrel is capable of extreme accuracy over longer ranges & quite frankly does not suffer as much as most people would think. Controls at instinctive and easily used, however if you are a south paw you frankly are out of luck. The Shooting Edge is the place to get the DTA, you will not be disappointed by the purchase.

Wow gadget nice set up and a Hensoldt SSG to boot. BTW can you post more up close detail photo? Thanks.

The SSG was a loaner and if I had the extra $3500/$4000 sitting around, it would be mine however it currently has a NF sitting on it right now. I will try to get some better pictures posted in the next couple of days.

That is a nice rifle there Gadget. What optic and mount is that? Also what is the cheek weld area like? Is there any adjustment?

I got the wife to agree that a rifle like this is exactly what I need and explained that a custom rilfe like this would cost double so she is in right now. I have to wait for a bit for the funds to hit my account then I will be getting my dream rifle. I know the rifle is only half the battle but at least it is a start.

I was surprised when the wife agreed with the purchase even after she saw the price tag, she was shocked at first then I sold it to her.

Gadget, the DSR-1 that is sitting beside you is a very nice rifle too. How would you compare them for accuracy and ergo?
