Hi,

Just joined the forum, I was out of the military about 12-13 years ago now? Find myself wanting to get back into guns, anyways havent gotten my PAL yet but am researching AR-10's. I handled a BCL 102 and to be honest it felt loose if that makes sense, all the bad reviews make me want to stay away.

Started looking into good brand names and love the look and specs of the Barrett rec10, only issue is its got a 16 inch barrell, my understanding is that it would be classified as restricted as opposed to non-restricted if the barrell was half an inch longer? Anyways Barrett also is going to pump out a DMR version with a 20 inch barrell, I'm just wondering what anyone has heard about the classification status or how long it takes? whats likely to happen? thanks,

Mike

It will be Restricted as a variant of the Restricted 5.56mm Rec 7, which came first.

I was thinking/hoping it is more based on the AR10 so it wouldnt be restricted? i dont know a lot about it but that would suck though, I'd love to have one with a 16.5 inch barrel.

First, thanks for your service.
Second, for a NR classification, they would require an 18.5" barrel, not 16.5".
Third, hurry up and get your PAL, there's strength in numbers.
