Can anyone provide some info about the Barrie Gun Club before I take a drive up there?
The website doesn’t have much info at all. I’m just wondering about membership costs, probation time hours of operation?
I couldn't find a thread about this yet but if there is one on the site could you attach a link?
Thanks.

The membership fees for renewals runs around $325 for a full member, cannot recall initiation fees or much related to joining as that was a while ago. Best to call the office and speak to Liz, she can fill you in on all the details, 705-725-8606. She is usually there Sunday morning 9 am until Noon,
Tuesday evening 7 pm - 9 pm.

There is a general club safety meeting, and sign offs per discipline is what I recall. They also have a no shooting alone policy which throws some people off, but is not much of an inconvenience.

Ok, great. Thanks. I'll look into it.

:D
$325 for a full member

1) Kinda steep!

They also have a no shooting alone policy

2) And a NANNY CLUB........ I thought the age limit for day care center enrollment was 16 years old.

Two reasons why I'll never cross their threshold.

Thanks.
I went last Sunday and spoke with Liz. She was a great help and gave me a bunch of information. It is cheaper than other clubs around the area and the not shooting alone rule doesn't bother me at all.
I'll probably send in my application soon.

I would say membership is too expensive for the BS you have to go through.

I went to Target Sports weeks ago and they have a great range...and store but the almost $700 membership is way too much for me to spend per year to have a place to shoot. I'll still keep looking for other alternatives.

$700?

Unless I'm missing something (extra cost for firing ammo during supervised shooting), it's $605 for noobs and about $500 for the following year.

Almost $700. When I was there the total came to $655. I understand it does get cheaper after the first year but in my mind it's still pretty expensive. I do like Barrie for the fact that after the probationary time it's possible to go 24hrs a day.
Don't get me wrong...Target Sports is a great place to shoot.

Keep in mind, unless you can also arrange to arrive at the same time as another member, and want to shoot on the same range, and have a RSO present, you'll be sitting on the sofa watching TV.

Odd, it should have come to 650. ( 605 + 45 CSSA membership ) Anyway I understand what your saying ( I'm currently a member there ) and it is expensive, but keep in mind the benefits of this particular club.

1)Members get exclusive use of Range " A " which I believe has 10 stalls with automated retrieving targets.

2)The store is fully stocked with both ammo and a plethora of range guns to use.

3) You can pretty much shoot anything there with small limitations ( shotgun = buck shot only, no slug or bird shot ) , .223 & .308 can be shot but only with the frangible ammo ( which they offer for sale ) any handgun from .22 - .50 can be shot

3)The staff are competent and friendly. One of the staff and let me blast off a few rounds on his M&P as I thinking of purchasing one. Even helped correct a shooting mistake I had been making since the beginning.

4. The hours are awesome, 11am - 9pm mon to saturday ( the place is DEAD after 8pm )

To go from a probationary member to full member can be achieved in as little as four days ( pending you pass the probation shoots ) . Which I thought was a huge bonus considering some of the clubs I checked out required 10 probationary shoots, voted by a group of " executive members " and only offered one safety course a month ( and in some cases were booked till Feb?!?!? )

Gotta pay to play I guess. Hope my info helped

FMP...
The info did help...thanks.
I suppose it all does come down to paying to play and paying a bit more to have the ease and convenience at Target Sports.
