Was helping my father clean up his basement when we found a box containing these little gems (well, more like diamonds in the ruff )

the top one is a cooey 82 and the bottom one is an old Eatonia. The 82 is going to be an S&G refinish project that I may try to go original (anyone with pics of the two stock types feel free to post) or just experiment and go from there. The Eatonia though I want to make as original as possible because from what my father told me it was my grandfathers first firearm (passed d/t cancer in '91) and I want to bring it to it's former glory in his honour. Anywho, enough prattle on with the pics w:h:

thought there were more pics of it but hey, let the wife have her artistic license and this is what you get *sigh* ah well, good photos either way. That's all I have for this one, need a bolt and as mentioned before a stock (yet to be decided what type) and the bolt/screw that holds it to the stock, and trigger guard, and rear sight elevator and (wallet and luck permitting) the rear aperture sight, and last but not least a VERY hard and good cleaning >< rust all over this poor thing f:P: but hopefully I can breathe some life back into her.

the Eatonia:

Such a small little rifle! So to get this one going in working condition I need to get my hands on a bolt, trigger guard and butt plate and again the screw/bolt that holds it all together. Now for the stock... I think it's FUBAR'd personally, any other takes on it please chip in, but I'm thinking I'm going to have to dish out for an all new (original) stock.

Going to be placing an ad in the EE looking for the bits that I need. Winnipeg Toymaker gave me a few helpful places to look at, but if anyone else has/knows of anyone that could help out, let me know. And any ideas as to where to go with the 82, be it restore or personalize pipe in, all input is welcome :D

Both rifle have good strong rifling as far as I can tell. They definitely need a good scrubbing inside and out, but should shoot straight as can be when they're done (so I hope )

I just did a similar project out of a Cooey 75 I dug out of a barn at my buddies place. After I stripped the metal bits with Evapo-rust and sanded the stock it looked great! Now just to blue or arma coat it!

Evapo-rust? where'd you find that? The 82 could use a whole container of that from the looks of it ><

Keep looking PDB, I felt the same seeing everyone else's threads of finds. I'm just lucky my father didn't keep them for himself :S

As for the stock for the 82, again if I can find an original stock (and like the looks) then I'll probably go for it, but I'm leaning towards making (or having someone make) a custom stock.

As for the Evapo-rust, when I get some funds I'm going to have to pick some up and try it :D

I got my evapo-rust from Canadian Tire for like $10. Dumped it in an inflatable beer tub with the rifle parts and left overnight. Next day, no rust! No bluing either but that was the point.

havlinsales.com is THE web resource for mossberg parts for the classics.

The problem is he will not ship to Canada. I have a cousin down there who helped me out, and mailed me the bits after delivering to him. There were no prohibited items in the order so it was not illegal for my cousin to ship.. all good.

I only tell you about this place because he has so many hard to find parts. I have a nice mossberg 44US(d) heavy barrel target .22 that I recently worked on. Had a barrel liner installed at Ellwood Epps (sponsor here ) for $132 taxes in. It is as good as new now, except for front sight hood I forgot to order from Havlin,.. and that is coming soon!

:) good luck

Interesting, I'll have to give them a look over. You say they for mossberg parts. Little off with these being cooey's but ah well, worth a look eh? Just need some funds to come in and these projects can get at least somewhat started while I'm still able to work on them
