Basic Bear roast - thoughts?

Got my first bear this spring, we've bbq'd hamburgers, they were great, just ground some meat, little garlic, salt, pepper, egg and fine ground crackers and onto the barbie.

Trying a bear roast tonight, looked at the recipe's posted but am thinking no marinade, told wife just cook it like it was a pork roast: Little wine in the roaster, garlic and montreal steak spice on the roast and into the oven, make gravy in the roaster.

Thoughts?

It doesn't need much. Plenty of garlic, black pepper and paprika maybe some onions in the bottom of the roaster and you're good to go.

I'm not crazy about prepared spice blends as they all tend to taste generic to me.
