Basic review of CORE15 TAC M4

First and initial impressions of the newly arrived TAC M4 Piston Rifle by CORE15.

Yes, you read it right, Manufacturers Lifetime Warranty!!

My TAC 4 as is weighs in at exactly 8.5 lbs as I have additionally added a MAGPUL AFG2, B.A.D. lever, and a Lucid Optics HD7 sight.

The rifle arrived well packed in a plain sturdy brown box with foam wrapping and you can tell right away that CORE 15 has invested heavily on quality without any unnecessary wrapping bling.

This rifle initially feels somewhat front heavy until you remember that not only does this model come with a bullet proof front quad rail, but it's a piston model!!!

The MAGPUL accessories are everything we have come to expect from them as a top industry supplier.

The finish on this rifle is refined and flawless with no burs, machine marks or waves in the metal or finish.

Let’s not forget that this is a true Mil-Spec forged 7075- T6 rifle and it really shows.

The mag well is flawless and everything from LAR 10 to 30 round P-MAGS click in and drop out effortlessly with no binding at all. I have also tried a Beta C mag with no difficulty as well.

The fit on the rifle is also flawless with no spaces and tight fits throughout with no movement or play at all.

Overall I find this to be high quality rifle with superior fit and finish made from excellent material stock for a very reasonable price.

I am still waiting for the transport paperwork to come in, but will update with a short review of the rifle performance at the range ASAP.

Please see the attached pic links for some details of the rifle.

That Magpul front sight won't last to long on that gas block sight. Other than that I think that rifle is "Good To gO" ;)

magpul actually states that the Mbus is not to be used on railed gas blocks, but maybe the piston gas blocks run cooler than direct impingment.

It actually came this way from the factory so I'll run it through it's paces and see if it heats up enough to affect the front sight adversly. Worst case I have some metal sights I can use, but I'll let everyone know.

Great review! Now for accuracy tests using FMJ Federal factory ammo to see how this thing really performs at 100 yards.

I plan to use three types and will update the post. It will have to be at 50 meters for now as that's the limit of my winter range.

What was the final price tag at the end?

Final cost with tax, delivery and all the extras (grip, lever and sight), was a touch over $2500.00 and when you consider this is the thier top end piston model ........ I'm very happy!!!! My Kriss & RFB came in 10 to 20% higher in cost when the extras and sights were added in. I'm extremely happy with it and can't wait to get it to the range. The wait was well worth it!!

I finnaly got to shoot my DI base model. One Jam other wise everything went smooth. Now to buy more ammo and zero in the scope. :D
