In order to shoot slugs, a shotgun barrel needs to be cylindrical bore (no choke), right? Are these rifled or smooth bore? If smooth bore, how does the slug get stabilized, since it has no spin?

The barrel doesn't have to be cylinder, but the best results come from more open choke for slugs that are rifled and are meant to be fired from a smooth bore. Rifled slug barrels are meant for sabot styled slugs and funcrion the same as a rifle barrel. The rifling or twist, which is on the slug fired through smooth bore shotguns , gives it "spin" in the barrel and thus stabilizes it in flight.

Slugs can be fired from a cylinder bore, but as you have already alluded to, the results aren't going to be far less accurate than sabot slug in a rifled barrel.
