What's your take on this, Bass Pro is suppling the reloading stuff and are they killing the little guys or good for reloaders. As there are lots of things to choose and the prices are competeble and lots of verieties but WHAT YOU THINK ?

Depends on where u are talking about. The BP here has very little in the way of reloading stuff and what they do have is certainly no bargain compared to other retailers. Their powder pricing is beyond ridiculous as some of its up to $10/lb MORE than other local sources.
dB

Was there a few days ago. Prices aren't mind blowing- reminded me of what I've seen everywhere else. Power might be a few bucks more like dB says. $37 for 4831sc IIRC.

On the bright side, I was impressed for a change with the service when I was there- actually chatted with a few sales reps- what a surprise compared to the usual zombie grunt replies usually encountered in the store.

I would have to agree. After a seven hour drive and they had nothing in 224 on the shelves.

So you never heard of a telephone? I have read many posts about.....I drove for 3 hours and they didn't have (insert item here) come on it's common sense, you live far away you call first, no sympathy for you.

Many times I'd stop by if I was in the area, (so there was no specific trip) thinking i might just happen to find something I need or could use. But the catch is they have NOTHING anyone wants 99% of the time.

bass [pro

Prices are a few bucks cheaper on bullets than most.selection still not that great.

I hate to grip but I have not met a sales person at Bass Pro who has a clue. They dont know any of the products they are selling. If you have a question about anything to do with hunting or shooting products do not wait untill you get to Bass Pro to ask.
I find it hard to believe that you have people selling products costing hundreds if not thousands of dollars with no knowlege of the product being sold.Bass Pro shops is a great place to go and admire the skill involved in taxidermy other than that stay home.

I went to Calgary BP to check out reloading supplies and wasn't impresed at all, expencive and nothing I wanted in stock. On the bright side they had plenty of salt water fishing gear!!! Can anyone tell me where to fish salt water localy?

No!

Starbucks coffee is at least twice as expensive as Tim Horton's one... but Tim didn't "kill" the little guy. There are lots of other coffee shops around too...

If little guy cannot compete, it's in reality little guy's fault. Small business can offer superior customer service, customized selection, small scale efficiency, etc. There are tons of upset posts about ####ty service at Bass Pro and other big stores, so offer good service and people would pay a buck more to go to your shop.

To put it in perspective, you'll save about a buck on a Lee Breechlock Challenger kit. Hurray, Only $148.99 now!

Jerry from Mystic Precision can actually sell you a bag of Winchester .308 brass for three buks cheaper, plus no PST! w:h:

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: BP is the walmart for fishing and clothing stuff. Walking in looking for small chit-chat, or, heaven-forbid, advice is in 99% of circumstances, an exercise in frustration.

I walked in looking for a rimfire (local guy only sells used and on-concession), walked out with my balances on my debit and credit cards unaltered.

I am not to happy about it but its bussiness you have to deal with it and move on... I went to Bass Pro once... looking for some brass because I promised a customer and my distributor was out... At that time they where not selling reloading supplies I was not impressed and left.

Buying out of province won't be so great once they implement this new HST... thank our wonderful goverment again.

except for the fishers out there :D I really wish I l liked to fish, you don't have to register your fishing equipment :D although, you do have to obtain a boat license now... probably have for a while but I never heard anything about that. lol

only thing i bought from bass pro was 45acp ammo.
