I have learned over time if you see a good deal, snag it and don't ask too many questions. I went to a LGS earlier this year and they had some loose boxes of S&B 55gr .223. I never saw this on the retailer's website, and I asked about it and the manager / owner came back and said there was no price listed, but she can give it to me for an "override" price in their system, which I guess means for whatever price she inputted. Well, I got the box of 20 rounds for $9.99. She even said "is that good?" I was expecting $15.99 so I said of course! I then made the mistake of ONLY buying about 10 boxes whereas they had about 30 on the shelf. I got home, looked up my purchase logs and no .223 box of 20 rounds were that price for a number of years. I went back the next day, saw the same manager/owner and said hey, I am prepared to buy more. She said sorry, after my purchase they reviewed it and it looks like someone put loose boxes on the shelf when their ads online had it for a case only. That's why there was no single unit price. I said well I will take the rest of them. She took out a calculator and said she wasn't supposed to give me a unit price since it's not advertised aside from bulk, but how about $13.99. I said no thanks. I am glad she gave me that good deal, but as with anything else, I should have bought the rest of the stock based on that price. Oh well, those 10 boxes were fun to shoot!
