So i installed the Troy Battery Assist Device on my Norc. The instal was painless and the device functioned as intended. I put an empty mag in and the bolt hold open still worked

Took it to the range and now the bolt wont stay open after the last round. Rifle is clean and properly lubed. I tried 4 different kind of ammo and 3 different brands of mags (all functioned before the Battery Assist Device).

Anyone else having these issues? Does the Magpul BAD work ok? Any insight would be appreciated. I hate to take it off, it is handy.

Its probablly just adding to much weight for the tiny spring to overcome causing you problems.

I binned the Magpul BAD lever after 10 minutes, its just not for me.

I tried a Tactical Link BAL on my Norc and had the same problem. The same unit worked properly on my DPMS.

I was going to try to replace the bolt catch and spring but in the end I decided the whole idea of the lever didn't work for me so I have added it to my parts bin.

BAD lever

The name says it all "B A D".... Thats a lot of leverage on a small spring and not to mention how pissed you will be when you break one of the tabs for the pin it pivits on off the side of you reciever. 2nd, its a bad habit creator to use when your rifle is not on target and your finger is in the trigger gaurd. Proper training and practice you will be just as fast without it and safer...bench it

Your finger will never enter the trigger guard with these types of devices (if you somehow manage it, you should probably stop shooting). That is the reason they extend beyond it.

The Battery Assist Devices (Yours isn't even Magpul's, it's made by Troy) can cause this issue based on the tolerances between the bolt catch's paddle and the receiver.

3k rounds through my bushmaster with it, would not say it is anything close to as hard on the rifle as you make it out to be.

Also, the BAD sticks out of the trigger guard, so unless you have a funky way of using it, then it is just a downwards swipe to use it, and the purpose is for faster reloads, so you are likely going to be putting that finger right back in the trigger guard anyways.

Just my .02
